Upon getting his engineering degree, Thomas Mertin took on a job with the FFT GmbH, a subsidiary of the Justus Dornier group specializing in airplane- and fiber-reinforced materials technology. Among other products, FFT builds the “Speed Canard”, a two-seated sports plane as well as a four-seater often used by flight schools.

Thomas’ specialty at FFT was prototype testing. When his employer went out of business, Thomas made the decision to test his luck with his own ideas, making use of the enormous knowledge about carbon fiber products he had acquired over the years.

Thomas’ vast experience and his attention to detail gave him an easy entry into the field of bicycle technology. After many years spent designing and building carbon fiber components for other companies he is now taking the next step. Bringing his own ideas to the market he is now developing his own product line, the “THM-Carbones”.

The THM-Carbones label stands for a family of products at the forefront of what is currently possible technically. 100% hand-built exclusively in Germany and in small numbers, all THM-Carbones products are the end-result of extensive testing and the most advanced production methods.
